Looking From a High Place

Yesterday, Gavin and I hiked to the summit of Mt. Eddy. It ranks as one of my two most strenuous hikes in the last few years: 10 miles and 2500 feet elevation gain, starting at 6700 feet elevation. We had hiked to Deadfall Lakes a few weeks ago. Some of the pictures I use here will be from that hike. First, there was the trailhead with a sign marked, appropriately enough, "TRAILHEAD." Near the trailhead were some photogenic wildflowers. Here is the beginning of the trail. A chipmunk posed for me. It helps to have a long optical zoom. Further on...more wildflowers. I don't know the names of any of them. The trail again, getting near Deadfall Lakes. Deadfall Lake #1 (There are four or five of them.
